Indian Defense Ministry News: The Indian Defense Ministry has approved new defense procurement proposals amid the three-year standoff with China on the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh.These proposals are aimed at strengthening the country's security by investing Rs 70,584 crore in indigenous military equipment. The strategic move is aimed at reducing India's dependence on foreign countries for its defense needs, emphasizing on self-reliance and strengthening the domestic defense industry.By procuring state-of-the-art indigenous military hardware, India aims to enhance its capabilities and ensure the preparedness of its armed forces to effectively deal with any challenge and protect its territorial integrity.DAC approves indigenous hardware procurement: India on Thursday (March 16) approved the procurement of indigenous military equipment worth Rs 70,584 crore.

The move is expected to give a big boost to domestic defense manufacturing. The Defense Acquisition Council (DAC), headed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, approved the procurement proposals, officials said.Weapons to be designed domestically: New defense procurement proposals have been cleared amid the nearly three-year standoff with China on the eastern Ladakh border.

The DAC has given Approval of Requirement (AoN) for procurement of military hardware worth Rs 70,584 crore, under which all acquisitions will be "designed, developed and manufactured" domestically.The strategic decision is aimed at promoting self-reliance in the defense sector and strengthening India's capabilities to effectively respond to security challenges.
